20 Years of Healing Arts
Laura has been practicing healing arts for more than 20 years. Laura comes from a family line of Healers, and was gifted with intuition and healing touch since childhood. Laura is certified in several traditions of Healing Arts, including Swedish Massage Therapy, Pranic Healing, Reiki, and Sat Nam Rasayan Yogic Healing. Laura has also studied Jin Shin Do, Shiatsu, Reflexology and Aromatherapy. Laura holds a Bachelors Degree from UCLA in Women’s Studies and Anthropology, then continued her studies in Healing Arts at the YOSAN University of Chinese Medicine.

Her interest in Ayurveda and yoga led her to study Kundalini Yoga, the yoga of awareness, with Yogi Bhajan in Los Angeles. Laura began practicing Kundalini Yoga in Los Angeles with Yogi Bhajan in 1990, and was an active member of the yogic community and Guru Ram Das Ashram of Los Angeles. Laura received her spiritual name, Ragubir Kaur, from Yogi Bhajan himself. Ragubir Kaur means Princess who is the keeper of God''s Power". Laura Ragubir is a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher in the tradition of Kundalini Yoga as Taught by Yogi Bhajan.
Yoga Mama
Laura has been married for 17 years, and is the mother of three beautiful yoginis and dancers. She and her husband Roger Drummer have been following the yogic lifestyle for more than two decades, and teach workshops and classes on Sacred Sexuality, Herbs for Health, and Vegetarian Diet. Kundalini Yoga is the yoga of householders (people who live and work in the world and have family responsibilities) and Laura and her family practice the yogic science of meditation, vegetarian diet, green living, and yogic lifestyle. Laura loves the practice of Kundalini Yoga because it was designed to uplift persons such as herself, who need yoga-power to balance being a mama, wife, and teacher.
Prenatal Yoga and Dance
Laura had Midwife- assisted natural home births for all three children, and practiced yoga and bellydance throughout her pregnancies for health. She also taught and performed through all her pregnancies, and even produced and starred in a Prenatal Bellydance Video while nine months pregnant with her third child! Laura teaches the healing benefits of Prenatal Yoga and Prenatal Bellydance in worksops and classes. Laura is also an advocate for the health benefits of natural childbirth and breastfeeding.

As a performer, Laura has over 20 years of experience as a professional Middle Eastern Dancer. Her performances include music videos for Arab TV, television appearances including the Roseanne Show and LaSalle Live, national Theatre productions, and international appearances.

Laura gratefully acknowledges her mentors and teachers in Middle Eastern Dance, including Hadia, Raqia Hassan, Farida Fahmy, Mesmera, Anisa, Dina, Zahra Zuhair and Hallah. Laura has also performed Flamenco, Indian Dance, Salsa, European Folk Dance, Middle Eastern Folk Dance, and Ballet.

Laura Shakti appeared as the Featured Artist with live music in Los Angeles’ finest Middle Eastern venues, including Byblos (Lebanese), Al Andalus (with Issam Houshan), Sophia's (with John Bilezikjian), Aladdin (Arabic band) Middle East Connection (Arabic Band), Seaside Palace (Iranian band), Taverna Tony (Greek band), Burger Continental (Armenian band), and Cabaret Tehran (Iranian).
Dancing with the Stars
Laura was an original member of Flowers of the Desert Arabian Dance Company, Los Angeles' premier world dance company founded by Laura Crawford. Laura Shakti appeared with fellow members Farhana, Kamala, Selena, Miriam, Veena, Neena, and Zeyna in Theatre, Concert, and Hollywood Productions( including the premier of the movie The Mummy). Laura Shakti appeared with Flowers as a soloist and choreographer, as well as in concert performances with International Music Stars Alabina, Cheb Mami, Hakim, Amr Diab, Ahab Taysik, and Dina.

She has used the healing arts of yoga and mind- body therapies to improve her own life as a dancer and teacher. Laura Shakti’s experience of practicing the Healing Arts in conjunction with the Performing Arts led her to a unique appreciation of the healing aspects of Middle Eastern Dance. Laura views bellydance as a way for women to connect with their sacred sexuality and innate beauty. Middle eastern dance (bellydance) is a dance for every woman of every age and shape. Her classes are filled with the joy of movement and the relaxation of women having fun. She encourages all women to find the beauty within and get "juicy" in their lives and bodies.
